A Study on the Bulbil Growth Characteristics of Southern Garlic Strains Ⅱ. Effectiveness of Planting Periods

Abstract

|
Clove differentiation and development were investigated from bubils of Cheju garlic and the common cloves planted at various time intervals. The results were as follows ; 1. Yield and plant height showed increased tendency as the sowing time is earlier on both of the common clove and bulbil. 2. Number of leaves were more numerous as the sowing time is earlier from the common clove, while bubil also showed nearly the same tendency before wintering but after wintering, bulbil planted on 7th of October showed the higher leaves than the others. 3. Diameter of sheath from the common clove was developed fast as the sowing time is earlier but showed increased growth on the plots of 25th Sept and 7th Oct. than 13rd Sept. and 19th Oct. 4. Clove differentiation from bulbil showed good result. 5. Planting time on 19th Oct. is not suitable for the garlic cultivation.
